Charlie Higson is a comedian, actor and author of the phenomenally successful Young Bond series, which has sold over a million copies in the UK and has been translated into over 24 languages. Here, he joins UEA Lecturer and fellow Bond enthusiast Matthew Woodcock for a discussion of all things 007; including Higson’s personal approach to the character’s early adventures, the inspiration taken from Ian Fleming’s own life and the essential ingredients of a classic James Bond story.
The discussion will also touch on the place of thriller vis-à-vis crime writing and the challenges of writing for a young adult audience, with a Q&A opportunity for aspiring writers to pose their own questions.
Norfolk has a big part to play in the world of James Bond – from being a film location for "Die Another Day" (2002), to providing Ian Fleming with the inspiration for the name of his supervillian Ernst Stavro Blofeld – making it the perfect location for this special event.
